Cant believe it’s the fourth month of my placement at Ibis, time has literally flew past! January is a hectic month in Ibis, with the Christmas and New Year festivities slowly coming to an end extended families visiting for the holidays return back home. There have been a few iconic moments in January already. Butler Search Group hosted a party for all the interns at O’Sheas Irish bar in Clematis Street. This gave everyone an opportunity to see friends from different clubs as well as make new friends and hear about how their American adventure is going so far!
Myself and the rest of the University of Ulster students are lucky that we get a special visit from our placement tutors Gary & Robert. I can’t describe how nice it is to see a friendly face from home, knowing that I took a last minute decision to go to the united states it was nice to show them that I was really progressing and loving every minute of my time here. The day after the party Gary, Robert and Rasheeda came to visit Ibis to discuss with the managers how everyone was progressing in their different jobs. As we sat around the table Gary produces a bag filled with Tayto crisps from home everyone’s eyes lit up, it was as if Christmas again! For a moment it felt like we were back home.
